This five-state regional museum located in Spearfish houses pioneering artifacts, antiques, and art of Native Americans, the cattle and sheep industries, blacksmithing saddle making, natural history, mining, forestry and of course the cowboy and rodeo.
Events are hosted at the center throughout the year and include a Live Radio Show, and Cowboy Poetry.Outdoor features include live buffalo, longhorn steers and a small animal farm, and a historic one room schoolhouse.
Historic Adams House is an elegant Queen-Anne style Victorian Mansion built in 1892 by Harris & Anna Franklin. Deadwood pioneer and founder W.E. Adams purchased the home in 1920. After he died, the home was left untouched for 50 years, and eventually acquired by the City of Deadwood.
Experts in historic preservation have fully restored the home with all of its original elegance and grandeur.
The Historic Adams house was opened to the public as a museum in 2000. Explore the romantic and tragic history of Deadwood year around. Guided tours are available for a minimal charge.
